What's Up! My name is Max Wentzlaff. I am 20 years old and I am a Director, Cinematographer, and Editor based out of Kitchener, Ontario, Canada.
My experiences with filmmaking began in middle-school, when, like so many teenagers, I dreamed of becoming a YouTuber. When it came to school assignments or projects, I would, whenever possible, create a video or short film instead of doing a live presentation or audio alone. I slowly became more and more intrigued with content creation as I began to gain the reputation of the “video guy” in school. It wasn't until grade 10 that I decided it was time to move away from cell phone videos and purchase a real camera.
The first camera I bought was a Sony a6300. This camera became my baby. Every moment I could find, I would be outside taking photos and videos of my friends and random people in the street, going for photo walks at local trails, and taking “artsy” photos of the trees and sky. If I wasn't out taking photos or videos, I was at home watching videos on how to take better photos and videos.
In 2019, I founded “Minty Productions,” a company that shoots music videos for artists from Toronto and the surrounding areas. Over the past few years, I have had the privilege of working with artists from both Ontario and British Columbia and my skills have grown exponentially. I now define myself as a filmmaker, photographer, and editor based out of Kitchener, Ontario, Canada as I have expanded my business to include not only music videos, but wedding videos and documentaries as well. Currently, I am a student at the University of Waterloo studying Digital Arts and Business. In the spring of 2022, I won the Youth Video contest for the Grand River Film Festival. I continue to hone my skills and pursue my interest in creating and editing videos.
These experiences have ultimately led me to where I am today. I can't wait to see what the future will bring, and I look forward to connecting and collaborating with you.
